 Misundersthood is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reaching at-risk teens and young adults before alcohol and drugs become a way of coping with trauma, pain, or struggles they may not know how to express.

We use education, mentorship, honest conversations, and firsthand testimony from people who have lived through addiction, incarceration, gangs, and crime to help young people see the dangers ahead and make healthier choices before it becomes harder to turn back.

Led by a Peer Support Specialist and Certified Recovery Mentor with firsthand lived experience, Misunderstood brings both professional training and real-world understanding to the young people we serve. Our goal is simple: reach them early, help them understand what they are going through, show them that there is another way.
